The Best Buddies Lambton College Chapter offers the opportunity for the development of friendships between students with and without learning differences. Making friends takes time for anyone, but if you are someone who learns differently, someone who struggles socially, or even if you are someone who doesn't possess the self-confidence to strike up a conversation with someone new, making friends is so much harder. Our chapter organizes group activities and events both on and off campus which enables all members to have fun and get to know new people.
Best Buddies is grounded in the belief that friendship is important to the development of all people. For people with different abilities, friendship is a medium through which they can become a part of their college community and experience friendship in a way that most people take for granted. It is through the support of the Student Administrative Council, students, faculty, staff, and community members that we are able to offer Best Buddies here at Lambton College.
Best Buddies is led by a Campus Coordinator, Samantha Hendrickx, who will be entering her 3rd year in the Child & Youth Worker program in September 2016, a host organization Community Living Sarnia-Lambton, specifically Norma Hills, a Staff Advisor, Tracy Parnham and a number of volunteers. The success of our Chapter depends on a great deal of volunteer participation to help with a number of tasks such as: coordinating group activities, event planning, fundraising, taking part in awareness events and providing transportation to and from events. Lambton College has been fortunate to have a chapter at our campus since 2006.
