    What is a Credit Transfer?

A "credit transfer" is a term used by universities and colleges to describe the process for allowing students to carry over credits for courses completed at one institution toward a diploma or degree program at another institution.

Credits granted by one program or institution for courses taken at another program or institution will be dependent on the student achieving (and maintaining) the grade point average required by the receiving institution. Students may also be asked to complete specific bridge program/courses with a minimum grade point average at certain receiving institutions.

    What is a Bridge Program?

A "bridge program" is a course or set of courses students need to take to complete the gaps in their learning from one program in order to apply for a designated program at a college or university.

For example, a student that completes a two-year Ontario College Business Diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.3 scale) and is looking to achieve a Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology has the option of taking the five core bridge course. Upon successful completion, students may then proceed to the third year of the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Program at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
