Determine and set your short and long term financial goals
How much money do you have? How much do you need?
Be realistic and follow as closely as possible
Make sure that your needs do not exceed your income
Save 10-15% of your income and try to have a 3-6 month emergency fund
Pay all of your bills on time to avoid late fees and protect your credit rating
Take care of your "needs" first and your "wants" second
Use your credit responsibly and your monthly payments should be reasonable for your income
Keep a detailed record of how you spend your money
